If you have soil that you'd like to dispose of then this test is for you. This test kit is ideal for home owners doing renovations or landscaping, right through to land developers and civil contractors undertaking developments.

The Soil Disposal Test Kit will allow you to test your soil for the contaminants required by most soil disposal sites (landfills, managed fills, controlled fills, cleanfills) before they will accept your soil from a residential property: asbestos, organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel and zinc).

You will need a minimum of 1 sample per 500m3 of soil being disposed. Some disposal sites may have specific testing requirements or may not accept DIY sampling results, so it is best to get in touch with your local disposal site before testing. If you need a specialist to take your sample for you, contact the team at EWB Consultants.

What's in the Kit:

  • Sampling Instructions
  • Sample bag/s
  • Gloves
  • Sample Submission Form
  • Pre-Paid Sample Return Courier Bag
  • IANZ accredited laboratory analysis of your sample/s including lab report confirming any contamination levels and whether asbestos is present.
  • Professional assessment of your results from a qualified and experienced contaminated land specialist.

Your assessment report will include a comparison of your results against the relevant soil disposal guidelines. Disposal sites that were consented prior to the disposal guideline may have different limits to the guideline - these sites will assess your results from the report provided.

Please note: The asbestos test only provides a positive or negative result and does not provide the level of asbestos if it is found to be present.

If you don't already have the necessary PPE to safely take the sample for asbestos testing, then in addition to this test kit you will need a Sampling PPE Kit which is available separately here.

Turnaround time for test results:

You will receive your professional assessment report including laboratory results 10 working days from the date your soil sample is received by our office.

Additional Items

In addition to this kit, there are some other items you will need to take your sample/s, that you may already have lying around the house:

  • Bucket or container to carry or mix your samples
  • Sampling tool (hand spade or spade)
  • Mixing tool (if combining multiple samples)
  • If high levels of contamination or asbestos are expected we recommend you wear additional PPE: P2 Mask & Coveralls (available here)
