The Pesticides Soil Test Kit will allow you to test your soil for Organochlorine Pesticides (including DDT & Dieldrin) which are the most likely pesticides to be found in elevated levels within most New Zealand residential soils due to the length of time they take to break down.

What's in the Kit:

  • Sampling Instructions
  • Sample bag/s
  • Gloves
  • Sample Submission Form
  • Pre-Paid Sample Return Courier Bag
  • IANZ accredited laboratory analysis of your sample/s for Organochlorine Pesticides including lab report confirming any contamination levels
  • Professional assessment of your results from a qualified and experienced contaminated land specialist.

Your assessment report will include a comparison of your results against the relevant New Zealand Human Health Standards. It will include suggestions for next steps and where to find more information if soil contamination is identified.

This test kit and the report that you will receive is designed for personal use and cannot be used as evidence eg; for resource consent application. If a specialist contaminated land investigation is what you need, contact the team at EWB Consultants.

Turnaround time for test results:

You will receive your professional assessment report including laboratory results 10 working days from the date your soil sample is received by our office.

Additional Items

In addition to this kit, there are some other items you will need to take your sample/s, that you may already have lying around the house:

  • Bucket or container to carry or mix your samples
  • Sampling tool (hand spade or spade)
  • Mixing tool (if combining multiple samples)
  • If high levels of contamination are expected we recommend you wear additional PPE: P2 Mask & Coveralls (available here)
